The history of Casafina
Donna and Samuel Smith founded Casafina in 1981. While searching for the right production partner, they travelled to Italy and Portugal many times, both countries known for their long traditions of ceramic craftsmanship.
During their visits, they met local ceramic makers and factories, where skilled craftspeople refined and painted each ceramic piece by hand. These experiences inspired them to create a distinctive range of authentic ceramics for the kitchen and the table, which became the foundation of Casafina.
Today, Casafina products are made in Portugal by experienced craftspeople. Production takes place at one of Europe's most environmentally conscious factories, where initiatives include recyclable products, the use of natural local resources, recycled clay and glazes, single firing to reduce energy use and CO2 emissions, energy-efficient equipment, renewable energy from solar panels, waste management and recycling procedures, advanced water treatment with reduced water consumption, and recycled and recyclable packaging.
