Costa Nova’s stoneware series Arenito is inspired by the simple beauty and strength of nature. Arenito, which means sandstone in Portuguese, is characterised by a raw, sandstone-like surface on the outside, while the inside features a matte glaze. This contrast creates a unique and aesthetic expression that is both modern and timeless.
Arenito is made from Ecogres® – an innovative clay blend composed of 90% recycled materials. By reusing leftover materials from the production process, waste is reduced and resources are used as efficiently as possible. The products are fired for 11 hours at 1180 °C. This ensures that Costa Nova’s stoneware has a very low risk of chipping during use. The glaze is highly resistant to scratches. Oven safe (up to 250 °C), microwave safe, and freezer safe (down to -20 °C). Not suitable for use over an open flame or on an electric hob. Dishwasher safe as often as needed, thanks to the extremely durable, non-porous surface glaze. A helpful tip is to avoid pieces touching or knocking against each other in the dishwasher.
Although stoneware can be used thousands of times over several generations, Costa Nova is committed to protecting the environment by minimising the impact of the resources used in production. This includes energy savings and reduced emissions during firing, the use of local natural resources, advanced water treatment and reduced water consumption, a high percentage of recyclable materials in production, recycled packaging, the use of solar energy, and more.
